Epistle II, Extract by Alexander Pope

Thank you Clare Flourish for introducing this profound poem to me, about the nature of man. Image sourced from Lancashire University.

Know then thyself, presume not God to scan,
The proper study of mankind is Man.
Placed on this isthmus of a middle state,
A being darkly wise and rudely great:
With too much knowledge for the Sceptic side,
With too much weakness for the Stoic’s pride,
He hangs between, in doubt to act or rest;
In doubt to deem himself a God or Beast;
In doubt his mind or body to prefer;
Born but to die, and reas’ning but to err;
Alike in ignorance, his reason such,
Whether he thinks too little or too much;
Chaos of thought and passion, all confused;
Still by himself abused or disabused;
Created half to rise, and half to fall;
Great lord of all things, yet a prey to all;
Sole judge of truth, in endless error hurl’d;
The glory, jest, and riddle of the world!”
― Alexander Pope

Of Winter Solstice

Winter Solstice at Newgrange

Cold and dark
the earth awaits new beginnings,
a world receptive and yielding
to the increasing light of day
as Mother Earth yearns
to fill her empty womb
with mistletoes’ fruitful seed.
A quickening in her belly reflects
the stirring of nature all around,
rebirth giving hope and joy.
We welcome and bless the cycle
of life to come……
Josie Mamo

Image sourced from Laura Knight-Jadczyk, Winter Solstice: From Chaos to Creation

Newgrange, a magical megalithic site in Ireland estimated to be older by centuries than Stonehenge, older than the Egyptian pyramids, was built to receive a shaft of sunlight deep into its central chamber at dawn on winter solstice. The light illuminates a stone basin below intricate carvings — spirals, eye shapes, solar discs. Although very little is known about how Newgrange was used by its builders, marking the solstice was obviously of tremendous spiritual import to them.

(More about) Courage and Oneness

Let us recap a little about the difference between fearless and fearlessness.

Courage is a choice we take, not a trait. We can all choose courage to overcome that which holds us back.

(Image sourced from The Mystic Window.)

Only four things hold us back in life: anger, sadness, fear and guilt. But these four negative emotions do not constitute the source of what holds us back. They are its symptoms. And likewise if you look through anger, sadness and guilt you will find fear behind them. Ultimately, the only one thing holds you back in life – fear.

Behind hatred (a form of anger) lurks fear, the furthermost opposite of love.

With courage we choose to displace fear. Fear feels very real until we break through it. Then we realise it was an illusion, all along. An illusion created, by our false ego to hold us back, for a purpose.

Fear encases wisdom and learning about the futility of thoughts and actions borne out of a sense of separateness. But separateness is an untruth. And untruth breeds untruth.

The source of all untruths, in ourselves,  is the sense of separateness. And by untruth, seperateness is, as such, an illusion. When we let go of this untruth, we learn the wisdom we have hitherto denied ourselves. We are all, ultimately, of one spirit.

And when we let go of separateness, we let go of the fear it breeds.

For example, fear of isolation and being unloved.

Why do we feel the need to be loved and connected to someone else?

Answer: “because we neither connect with, or love, our true selves.”

When we learn to love ourselves, wholly, truly and unfettered, we connect to, and love, others unconditionally and immediately.

And by “love ourselves” I mean – enkindle our souls with love.

Fear is not the contents of what you will find within your darkness. It is only the encasement or packaging. It takes courage to venture into the shadows. But once through the encasement, we find wisdom eventually. We step nearer to our ultimate true selves. With hindsight we realise there was nothing to fear, about this wisdom, in the first place. Our being fearless transforms into fearlessness; not so much a state of being brave, more a state of wising up; we had nothing to fear.

The brave warrior thus transforms into the, now, wiser alchemist.

Choose courage.

Find wisdom and fearlessness.

Let go of separateness.

Choose oneness.

Become One-Love.

The Law of Attraction: Heaven on Earth

A learned friend sent me a message that coincided spookily with an experience I’d had during the night before. Her message read,

“If we do not desire something or feel a pleasant emotion about it, we do not strive to make it happen.

Passion is your power for manifestation.”

A lot of my friend’s messages arrive when I need her wisdom most. Here’s what happened the night before.

Before I went to sleep I pleaded with spirit that I’d had enough of my desire loops. I sought help. I wanted guidance because whatever I was doing wasn’t working. I fell into a deep sleep but not for long.

I entered into a dreamworld of turmoil and darkness, inside a huge complex ethereal machine. Cogs and wheels ground away but all seemed to work against one another. Parts kept stuttering and jamming. Then they would attempt to reverse out of gear to get going again – like the inside of a huge faulty printer trying to unjam itself. The machine had almost had almost ground to a halt, almost but not completely. I awoke.

Picture sourced from manbehindthecurtain

An archangel helped me. We spoke of my desires and delineated those which belong to the upper echelons, of my desire world, from the lower. She asked me to focus on that which I really wanted in my heart of hearts. At the same time she asked me to focus on all the anger, sadness, fear and guilt I associated with NOT having what I desired.

She taught me to raise, up to spirit, all the anger, sadness, fear and guilt for one particular yearning I craved for. I became aware that releasing fear came with a consequence. I would be obliged to choose courage. mmm!?!

Nonetheless I completed her instruction. But then came the surprise. She instructed me to now raise my desire to spirit and let that go too. I paused whilst I realised that releasing desire to spirit, especially the desire for something so important to me, wasn’t easy. I had wanted that wish to come true badly.

The angel waited patiently whist I dwelt on the realisation that spirit manifests form. “Aha!” I thought. I awakened to the logic of my angel’s instruction. Spirit can only manifest a desire I own if I give it up to spirit. If I hold on to it, I offer spirit nothing to work on.

For the first time in my life I now understood, in my heart, Gandhi’s words: “ A burning passion coupled with absolute detachment is the key to all success. ”

I raised my palms upward above my head and raised my heart’s desire to spirit. I said it forcefully. Just in case I added the phrase, rather amateurishly, “and I really mean  it!” I wanted to demonstrate my commitment to my words.

I released my desire with all the heart I could muster. I realised suddenly how my desires had dominated my erstwhile thought world. Prior, when I yearned, or felt fearful about not receiving what I yearn for, I was in a future dream world. When I became angry, sad or felt I must be unworthy, about not getting what I yearn for, I’d been living a past memory. I’d spent little time in the present tense, the here and now, the path on which life takes place.

My passion for life was being held back. My friend’s message made me realise some words of ancient wisdom I’d pondered upon for years.

“In order to journey the path, you must develop a passion for the path (life), not your destination. You become the path.”

I thanked both my magical friends – for the abundance I’d been blessed with – two angels, one in spirit form, one in human form.

They’d taught me the secret ways of heaven on earth.

The Law of Attraction Cannot Avoid the Law of Consequence

Avebury

“I, me, not me, us, we attract everything that happens to us, every change, happy and sad. There is no such thing as random.
Life is more than the pursuit of happiness. It’s about learning wholeness. We seek to find, become and express our true selves and thus find true happiness, from within, not without.
The more we know about ourselves, warts and all, the greater the wisdom we have to achieve what we set out to achieve. When we choose courage and willpower to act on that wisdom, the closer to true happiness we become.
So life is about a continuum of choices.
And life is about becoming.
It’s a very tough climb, at times.
Seek wisdom!”

When our will and wishes become one

If you were to ask yourself “In my heart of hearts, my very soul, what do I seek more than anything else in life?” Would you really know the answer? After years I’m still getting some semblance.

I had to evolve a very focused state to answer the question without my emotions, petty desires and false-ego getting in the way. Even then, I would question myself “Do I really mean this?” And when the answer is “yes,” there arrives a second question, “Do I have the will to go for it?”

Knowing what you want is one thing. Going for it, 100%, is another. It takes determination, resilience and above all courage.

“Courage is a decision, not a trait. We all have it. We don’t all choose it.”

We need to focus on the here and now, in the present tense, and choose courage.

The point, the present tense, no matter how short a space in time, is infinitely small. As soon as we’ve thought of “it,” an infinite number of moments have already passed by. “It”, is/was already the past tense. What if we were to experience “it” right now? No thought, only now, (an) eternity (of moment by moments), when the mind stills completely. We vibrate.

We project our latent desires and fears (desires to avoid things) out into the universe. We broadcast our vibration. We make our own law of attraction. We attempt to attract that which we wish for. But who is that makes the wish? Is it the real “I”? Or is it a supplication of the false ego, “me?”

Is it some external trophy: a partner, money, a job, health or safety from harm, I attach a state of increased happiness to?  Will what I seek truly complete me? Or will its energy be subsumed by the unlit darkness of the shadows that lurks within? Is it to fill a dark void I feel inside myself, with the light of a false sun?

Or is my desire to find and become my true self and fulfil my contract (if I were to know it) for this life, in harmony or resonant with all that exists?

This, I suggest, is the true art or science of discernment. To discern my truth (that which takes me down the path I’ve contracted to follow) from false-egotistical fantasy.

When we will ourselves to take the path to our truth, passionately and genuinely, the universe resonates. We attract that which we seek, that which we wish for. Our will and wishes become one. But…

When we seek to placate our false ego, we deviate from our path. We allow the shadows to remain hidden. The universe responds. It disrupts our flow. It tells us there’s something we’ve chosen not to learn about ourselves. We ignore the glory to be found amongst our shadows. Consider the following symbolism.

Astrologers, ancient and modern, symbolise the sun in charts as a dot in a circle:

The dot (or point) symbolises the here and right now, the present tense. The universe/infinity is represented by the circle, a never ending stream of cycles in which we return continually to our starting place.

The point in (time) the centre of the circle thus represents the vibrations we send out into the universe. They are a product of all the information we possess (from the past) and its impression on our thoughts, words and deeds to create a better future, our will and our wishes. What returns to us in the future is a product of our will and wishes right now.

Imagine a pebble tossed into a circular pool, as an expression of what we will to happen. Everything we give birth to, all our thoughts, words spoken and deeds go out to the edge (of infinity) to return to us. On their return they meet the waves we project right now.

When the returning waves are coherent with those outgoing, we observe a series of standing waves. We experience our individual wave formation resonate coherently with the universe. We tune into the greater good.

This is not the end of the journey. It is a major milestone that tells us we’re well on our way. It’s important  that we acknowledge ourselves.

Acknowledge = Accept + Congratulate + Reward + Consolidate Learning

We are not all equal in power and spiritual development. But we are all equal in honour. It’s important that we acknowledge our power humbly and we don’t over-laud ourselves. Our false ego reclaims lost darkness when we put ourselves above others who haven’t travelled this far.

Please note, our law for attraction is what we will to attract NOT what we wish to happen. Willpower takes courage. Wishing is a relatively simple task but care needs to be taken that what we wish for suits the passion for our life’s journey.

Inserted image sourced from art-prints-on-demand.com

When the returning waves lack coherence, we create choppy waters. In extreme conditions we manifest dark stormy seas. Such is karma. It’s not about right or wrong. It’s feedback that tells us we’ve things to learn from the shadows within us still.

When the returning waves counter-balance the outgoing waves, the pool becomes still. We become equally knowledgeable with what goes on above the surface (the known world) and below, the unknown. We become one with all that is, non-duality. We live completely in the present tense, outside of time and space.

We discover that the opposite of life is not death, but not-life, an illusion. It doesn’t exist. Birth is the opposite of death. Life is eternal.

Derived from The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle

Summary:

  • Take care and time to focus on that which you really wish for. Make sure it meets the following criteria:
  1. It is not borne out of anger, sadness, fear or guilt.
  2. It feels in line with your life’s journey, purpose and contract.
  3. When it is complete, it will give you a real sense of fulfillment.
  4. Is it ecological. Does it flow (give to and receive from) with nature and at very least does little harm to its balance.
  5. You feel passionate about the journey more than the outcome.
  • Will yourself to make it happen. Choose courage. Choose providence.
  • The universe will provide.

You’re Here to Create a Blank Canvas

Image shared by Ancy Das on Facebook

Just keep looking at those 3 spots over the nose for 10 sec. Then raise your eyes upwards and stare at a blank wall for 20 seconds. Tell me what you see!

______________________________________________________________________________________

A metaphor for past life legacies that still need to be cleaned up.

For example, if you were cruel in a past life you may well spend this life learning about not-cruelty. Overlay what you see after staring at the picture, on top of it – you end up with a clean slate. Get it?

Tis not about good and evil. Tis about what works and not works. Tis about nature. Tis about how everything evolves to the good, eventually. Tis about Light.

It may take some of us a lot longer to evolve than others. That’s why we have leaders to the Light in the world. They’re not here to hang around doing nothing – despite their patience being tried more than ever, right now.

Replace Forgiveness with Accountability

“Forgiveness is an illusion of the mind. It appeases our false ego. Instead, we are wiser to erase the data that attracted whom, or that which, we resent or feel guilty about. I speak not of erasing an unpleasant memory or the learning there-from. I speak of erasure of the negative emotions we attach to that memory. The same negative emotions or darkness by which we attracted the person or event, that we allowed to offend us, in the first place.

The sun shines on us all, regardless. The Heart Chakra, your 4th chakra, is the domain of Helios, the Sun King. The heart doesn’t judge. Tis all in the mind.”

Fearless versus “Fearlessness” – the difference between courage and wisdom

Should we ignore, or remain in denial about adverse situations or issues, we learn little if anything at all. The situations fester and pester more and more. We feel more pain or hurt. Should we continue to isolate ourselves from our feelings of hurt about what’s going on, we isolate ourselves from love, joy and fulfillment as well. This might need some explanation.

Image sourced from The Hero Construction Company

We can’t learn if something is wet or not if we don’t know what not-wet, i.e. dry, is. Likewise, we are unable to be selective when we detach ourselves from negative emotions. Should we detach ourselves from sadness, we detach ourselves from not sadness, i.e. joy.

I recall when a relationship, I was in, broke up, not too long ago. I took myself to the pub at night, to inebriate myself from the fear and sadness of spending lonely evenings on my own. It took me 9 months before I readied myself to acknowledge the sadness, fear and start to move on life.

So here’s the curious dichotomy: when we ignore or deny fear, we deny not-fear – i.e. courage.

And it takes courage to deal with inner issues. In fact, all issues are inner issues. (When the relationship ended we both had issues to resolve but they were different issues.She had hers. I had mine. They were both proprietary.) The more courage we demonstrate to ourselves to deal with our inner issues the more we learn about them.

And when we learn more about a subject, we become wiser, we become expert and eventually we become a master. Not only are we a master at what’s going on, we become a master over our fears. We don’t hide from, or deny, them. We manage our fears. We control them. We become warriors. We become heroes. To some people, this ends the journey (“Hail, the all conquering hero!”). It does not. It ends a significant part of the journey and starts the next.

When we acknowledge our fear and gain mastery over it – we start to experience the stillness or void from which we base our actions. We start to realise that the issue, we faced, was attracted by and to our fear. We brought the issue, perhaps unknowingly and albeit unwantedly, on ourselves. The issue brought the fear to the surface so that we can erase that fear and evolve to the good.This is a fundamental rule to the game of life. (It might even be the only rule. I’m still working that one out.)

When the fear is fully out in the open in front of us, noone else,we see through it. We wise up to the habits and patterns inside of us that manifest that fear. We realise that those habits and patterns are only habits and patterns – and nothing more. They are not reality but responses we took on, usually in our early childhood, to adverse situations. And when we see their illusory nature, they disappear and so does the fear.

We begin to realise we had nothing to fear in the first place. At this stage we are not fearless, instead we experience fearlessness. We have transmuted our fearless state of mind  into fearlessness.

The warrior or hero does not ignore or deny, but manages and controls, their fear. The master or magician, through the wisdom from insight, dissolves fear. Magicians are not brave. They have no need to be. They know fear for what it is – a very real-like illusion.

Fearlessness is a symptom of having achieved a spiritual step on our road to enlightenment. Only two types of people experience fearlessness – masters and fools.

When we become a master at one stage of our journey we instantly become a fool (or totally uninitiated) in the next stage. We become both master and fool at the same time.

We experience the two purposes of fearlessness:

  1. It tells us we’ve achieved mastery at one level
  2. It gives us the encouragement to tackle the next stage in our development.

Such is the computer game called “Life” – until we take the last step, of course.

Tip for the day: Complain or Inspire, we choose.

When I complain a lot I tend to attract even more things to complain about.

The secret? Park all complaints. The Heart never judges. Focus, instead, on what you’re passionate about; that which inspires creativity.

“The Lodges all shall know that I am he.

Who searches loins and hearts to oversee,

All works creative and all works that  find,

Thought for the day

We find and open metaphysical and spiritual insights through our hearts not our minds. When we experience the wisdom found sufficiently, our minds can accept them.
They become personal rational knowledge – gnosis, Truth.
“For Truth by biased minds was ne’er divined
Therefore seek wisdom but first cleanse the mind.”

The Fear of Fear

"Fear" by lilith_abi

Fear is a strong word. It can be an uncomfortable word. If we over-embrace fear, we end up doing nothing about it. Paradoxically the fear of fear; not talking about fear, not thinking about fear can lead to….. denial – of the conscious and unconscious fears (“let’s not go there”) that hold us back.

(Image sourced from lilith_abi.)

So it’s about creating a structure and process where we can acknowledge our fears and vulnerabilities. When we deny fear, we deny our Truth. Research shows, living our Truth is the key to creating a healthy level of self worth.

This presents a challenge to the fiefdoms in politics and business in this “winner takes all” world we’ve created. A world where one man’s vulnerabilities and mistakes are seized by another for their own gain.

It points to a new world where property, wealth and “ownership” is based on equitable negotiation and usage, not forfeiture. Where one serves all as part of our social contract. Leaders do the leading, rulers do the ruling, Kings and Queens do the king-ing or queen-ing. They are jobs with reponsibilities and accountabilities, not titles. Ah-ha – I feel a whole new blog coming on.
